What is High Quality Titanium and why do we use this for soldering tools?

Although there are many grades of titanium and alloys, the type used by Cleverwerx is the most durable while also being the most cost effective for the purposes of jewelry fabrication. Commercially pure titanium has the highest gripping strength for soldering and heat resistance. There are many cheaper grades of titanium, but the grade used in our tools is mostly used in Aerospace, medical and industrial applications where high strength is needed. This grade is highly heat resistant, meaning you can solder without your tool distorting or bending. Our choice of titanium is inert in pickle (sodium bisulphate), and will not discolor precious metals. They are constructed in a water jet process with no heat involved in the fabrication. This insures consistent quality and maximum gripping power under high heat applications.

Although the crosslock tweezers may seem stiff, this is intended for maximum gripping power for your parts.

The specialty pick is designed so the length fits across your hand, transfers solder to a small area but strong enough so a wire or small bit of metal can make contact while heating. This pick can be ground to a finer point if needed, but will retain its strength and durability throughout the soldering process.

If flux builds up on any of your Cleverwerx Titanium products, a quick bath in pickle will restore the surface and not contaminate your bath.
